Pupils can use Microworlds to explore, construct, design, animate, analyse and visual their ideas. This edition includes programming features for LEGO RCX.
This software supports effective teaching because it allows the development of skills and ICT capability within one package. It can be part of a multi-platform project, but is capable of being used as a free standing unit. Because the program is modular (both in terms of its components, graphics, sound etc. and In terms of the modular nature of the Logo language) it is possible to devise effective teaching strategies which deliver sufficient capacity to achieve at a wide range of ages and levels of skill. Wider and more inclusive access to the curriculum is always a good thing. MW EX allows all users, regardless of initial skill to achieve at something. Less able learners are supported by the included materials, more skilled pupils are able to develop and build within the framework of the software, whereas gifted pupils are really able to fly. However, whatever group pupils belong to, all will succeed.
The students love using Microworlds. They can see the results of their efforts quickly and then develop their ideas in a variety of ways, the only restraints to their progress being their imagination. Students who normally struggle with ICT or don't particularly like the subject still seem to love Microworlds and through using it develop their general ICT skills even further.
