Creative 3D multimedia construction tools for students. Version 3 coming in April!
Kahootz is a fantastic animation tool for supporting children's creativity across the curriculum. Children can select from a range of 3D worlds and explore these at ease. There is a range of characters and objects to choose from for children to include in their Kahootz expressions. Kahootz objects have built in animation and children can add their own animation by using key points. Children enjoy changing the look and feel of worlds and objects by using the swatching tool.
Kahootz is a powerful tool for supporting literacy skills. It can as easily be used for story boarding as it can be for children to produce animated poetry. In Art children can use the notepad and swatching tools to create amazing compositions. In Year 3 it has been an ideal support for teaching work on pattern and dream sequences. Children's pastel work was scanned in and then placed in a virtual Kahootz art gallery.
When covering a unit of work on light and shadows in Science children used Kahootz to accurately draw shadows for objects and attach these using the grouping tool. Children had to pay particular attention to the position of the light source in their world and which way their characters were facing.
In R.E. children attached a Kahootz camera to a bird and then took it on a fly-through of a world containing 3D text of psalms that children had written previously.
Kahootz expressions can now be exported into QuickTime, allowing for further manipulation and creativity using digital video editing software.
