The low cost; the ease of use; robustness; fitness for purpose and the multiplicity of curriculum uses make it attractive to us. There is; for that cost; amazing functionality. Some of the material that the pupils have created is amazing: they can edit; copy and paste; add their own sounds; even include stills. The fact that you can only take a restricted amount of video means that children have to focus and decide what they want to do. It is also so easy to download the video from the camera into the machine. The camera is cheap enough for schools to have sets of them. They become part of the way that kids work rather than a special thing that they are waiting their turn for. Why spend five or six hundred pounds? Admittedly; the quality is not as good as with a more expensive camera but it is adequate and robust. It is an absolute winner; wonderfully straightforward and the functionality for the price is remarkable.
