Encourage pupils to develop better thinking strategies and studying skills.
As ICT coordinator for my school I was on the look out for some software that was not just another rote learning tool. I wanted something that gave us an opportunity to help children consider their learning strategies and might; ultimately; help them in the future; as they moved into the more independent learning environment of secondary school. I was particularly focusing on Year 6. To that end I chose to look at the Products offered by TAG and picked out BrainCogs. It was obvious from the outset that the children could empathise with the rock band the Rotten Green Peppers. The program then gave the pupils opportunities to practise; interactively; the suggested learning skills; which could then be followed up with classroom tasks. BrainCogs has proved to be a different way to tackle strategies for learning. With planned use it proved that could stimulate discussion and build skills for the future.
