MAPS eQualifications wins 2007 BETT Award
Thursday 11th of January 2007
TAG Learning Ltd. ("TAG") is pleased to announce that MAPS eQualifications has won the BETT 2007 awards - e-assessment category.
MAPS eQualifications, the online e-portfolio tool to manage students' work (http://www.mapseportfolio.com), is revolutionising the management and marking of coursework. Students using MAPS can upload their work - digital media, digital documents, presentations, spreadsheets, databases, DiDA website e-portfolios, etc. into their personalised MAPS web space - and their teachers or lecturers can then mark this work electronically, tagging it against the coursework mark sheet. MAPS can reduce both the cost and time for schools and colleges to get the portfolios of work to the moderators, and also reduces the risk of evidence being lost in transit. Furthermore, as all marks are tallied by the system, it will also cut out time-consuming errors.
Pilar Cloud, Managing Director of TAG Learning commented;
"We at TAG are all thrilled about this BETT 2007 award for MAPS for a number of reasons. First, this marks recognition of how we have successfully transitioned MAPS from a tool to support teacher assessment of KS3 ICT work to a one that supports GCSE students preparing their coursework in a number of subject areas. In fact, MAPS is now being used by pupils of all ages, from KS1 all the way through KS5. Moreover though, for us, this award is a validation of our approach -- that e-portfolios can provide both teachers AND students with the support they need to be creative, engaged educators and learners. We are always surprised when we win, particularly given how difficult the vetting process is nowadays, but we remain very grateful to receive the positive feedback from those esteemed practicioners and ICT experts who judged this category. We sincerely hope that this award allows us to talk with even more schools in the future about their approach to personalised learning."
