Solution:
1. Unplug your Digital Movie Creator from the computer.
2. Open Windows Explorer (press the Windows key and e). Select Tools > Folder Options. Select the View tab. Select Show hidden files and folders. Click OK.
REGISTRY
(note: all items may not appear in the registry)
3. From start menu; click ?Run?
4. Enter ?regedit? and click OK. Traverse and expand items in the editor by clicking the + symbol.
5. Go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE > Software > Intel Play
6. Find the ?Digital Movie Creator? folder and delete it.
7. Find the ?DMC Drivers? folder and delete it.
8. Find the ?Screen Saver? folder and delete it.
9. Go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE > System > CurrentControlSet > Enum > USB. Expand this key and look for any items starting with ?VID?. Expand each and click each subkey; checking to see if the DeviceDesc contains ?Intel(r) Play(tm) DMC?? If so; click back on that VID folder and delete it.
10. Go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE > Enum > USB. Expand this key and look for any items starting with ?VID?. Expand each and click each subkey; checking to see if the DeviceDesc contains ?Intel(r) Play(tm) DMC?? If so; click back on that VID folder and delete it.
INF FILES
(note: some systems may not contain these inf files)
11. Click on Start > Search.
For WinXP
12. Click on ?All files or folders?
13. In ?All or part of the filename? type ?oem*?
14. In ?A word or phrase in the file? type ?digital movie creator?
15. In ?Look in? select the hard drive to which to the software was installed (will default to ?local disk c:?)
16. Click on ?More Advanced Options? and select the checkbox for ?Search hidden files and folders?
For all other OS?s
17. Select ?For files or folders?
18. In ?Search for files or folders named? type ?oem*?
19. In ?Containing text? type ?digital movie creator?
20. In ?Look in? select the hard drive to which to the software was installed (will default to ?local disk c:?)
21. Click ?Search?
22. Four files containing ?oem? should be found. If there were more than four; there was a problem with the search text. Repeat INF files steps and try again.
23. The files resulting from a successful search will be inf files starting with the word ?oem? and ending with a number (e.g. oem11.inf). Delete the four files.
INSTALLSHIELD COMPONENTS
24. Browse to c:\Program Files\Common Files\InstallShield. Delete the Engine folder.
25. Browse to c:\Progam Files\InstallShield Installation Information.
26. Find the folder named {C1FCD24B-73FD-11D6-A14B-00105AC953E9} and delete it.
27. Find the folder named {CACA4016-6B3D-460F-A9E8-767CE6E9D1D1} and delete it.
INSTALLATION FOLDER
(note: the user may need to click ?View the entire contents of this folder? OR ?Show contents of this folder? to see the contents of some folders)
28. Browse to the target destination selected during the DMC installation. In a default setup this would be c:\Program Files\Digital Blue\PC Digital Movie Creator.
29. NOTE: If there are any movies; images; narration; etc. captured previously with the product and you want to save these for later; you will need to copy the ?User Files? folder to another location on the hard drive.
30. Select the ?PC Digital Movie Creator? folder and delete it.
SHORTCUTS
31. From the start menu; point to Programs (or All Programs) and find ?PC Digital Movie Creator?. Right click on this item and select delete.
32. Delete any Digital Movie Creator shortcuts from the desktop.
RESTORE SETTINGS
33. If the user?s system required a change to show hidden files and folders in step two; repeat that step except this time choose ?Do not show hidden files and folders?
34. After a new installation and successful execution of the application; the user can restore the old captured items by closing the application; browsing to the target installation directory; and replace the existing ?User Files? with the one saved earlier.
