»Description of Solution
Solution:
If both the DMC 1.0 and the DMC 2.0 camera are needed to be installed on the same workstation you will need to make sure that the users of the cameras can distinguish the difference between the old and the new camera as well as the old and new software. . We suggest that you mark one of the cameras with some tape or a sticker to indicate whether it is the DMC 1.0 or the DMC 2.0 camera. Then; to differentiate the software; the easiest way to do this is to install the software to different directories and also to re-label the desktop icons.
Install the DMC 1.0 software first and accept all default settings during the installation. Once the software has installed; you will need to rename the desktop icon. Find the icon for Digital Movie Creator on the desktop. Click the icon once with your mouse to select it. Once this is selected; move the pointer over the text on the icon and click once; this will select the text. Press the delete key on your keyboard and this will remove the text and allow you to rename the icon; type in “ DMC1 ” and the click away from the icon. The icon will have been renamed.
Now install the updated software for the DMC 2.0 (version 2) camera; when installing the software will select the same default location as the DMC 1.0 installed to. This must be changed or it will overwrite the software for the old camera. Change the install location to “c:\program files\DMC2 “ and then accept the default settings. After the software has installed; you will see it has placed an icon on the computer desktop the same as the icon for the DMC1 software; the only difference being the text to distinguish the difference. Re-name the new icon to “ DMC2 “; by clicking the icon to select it; then clicking once on the text to highlight it; press the delete key and type in “ DMC2 “ then click away. Both pieces of software will now be installed to separate locations on the computer and because the icons have been re-named on the desktop; it will make it easier for users to know which software they need to use with their camera.
